Ringed seals are the only food source with a high enough fat content and calories to keep a polar bear healthy. They make up the primary diet of polar bears. Seals are becoming harder for the bears to locate because summer ice floes recede forcing them to travel farther from shore. Polar bears are having to swim long distances to find them. It's not uncommon for a polar bear to watch a breathing hole for hours or even days.

I have had a passion for art for nearly 45 years. I have done numerous commissioned works and participated in many gallery showings. I have sold my original work and prints to buyers worldwide. In 2015, I was honored by winning 1st place in the state wildlife division of the Wisconsin Regional Artists Association competition with the painting "Silent Sentinel."
